Wooly residents of the Prospect Park Zoo get fleeced

Freshly fleeced sheep come up to visitors for their after-haircut snacks
A few select inhabitants of the Prospect Park Zoo were given their  springtime haircuts on Sunday, May 18, when the zoo held its annual Fleece Festival  to get the rams and sheep ready for the hot summer months – and to give visitors a little idea of how their woolen sweaters and scarves start out.

The event was complete with live blue-grass music, arts and crafts for the kids, and ample opportunity to feed the sheep as well as some of their co-residents – cows, chickens, and even a fearless peacock who strutted confidently among the crowds of children and adults.
