The 93-year-old man – whose entire family had been murdered by the Nazis – lived alone on the 15th floor of the Luna Park complex at 2954 West 8th St.. He was already unconscious when first-responders pulled him from the burning apartment about 1:15 a.m.

He died at Coney Island Hospital.

The fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring, officials said.

"He escaped the Nazis, he escaped the Soviet army, he escaped an anti-Semitic Polish regime, but he couldn't escape the fire," friend and neighbor Michael Bar said.  "He was the only one in his very large family to survive the Holocaust."
