The New York Aquarium in Coney Island, all but devastated by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, has been slowly coming back to normal operations. As it nears complete restoration, officials are seeking donations for a new facility, "Ocean Wonders: Sharks!"

Donors will be able to have their names (or that of anyone else of their choosing) and messages on "virtual tiles" which will migrate along the shimmering walls of the sleek building.

Aquarium officials describe the walls as "a mesmerizing work of art" comprised of some 33,000 aluminum tiles using wind and sunlight "to create a fluid, glittering surface reminiscent of schooling fish and ocean waves."
