Another knockout attack was reported Saturday afternoon, Dec.21, this time at Elm Avenue and East 12th Street in Midwood.

A young woman and her child were walking along Elm Avenue when she was punched from behind after the attacker passed her. The attacker was described as a clean shaven dark skin male with a roundish face, medium build, 5'7– 5'9 in height, 30-35 years old, 170-185 lbs, wearing a black wool ski cap, short braids coming out of the back of the cap, a dark green nylon jacket and dark baggy jeans. He was carrying a back pack.

A Brooklyn man was arrested Jan. 4 for allegedly punching women on the street and then running away.
Police said 35-year-old Barry Baldwin would approach the victims from behind and punch them in the head. 

Three of the victims were women in their 70s, while the other four were between the ages of 25 and 38. 

The incidents occurred in November and December in several areas of Brooklyn (including in Midwood as described above).

Baldwin was  charged with nine counts of aggravated harassment as a hate crime, attempted assault and menacing. 

However, sources told NY1 that he may be emotionally disturbed, and that the hate crime charges may be dropped.

The official NYPD flyer is posted below, and lists the incident as an assault.
Deutsch urges the community to:

-Always be aware of your surroundings -Walk in well lit and populated areas
-Be cautious of a suspicious person or group.
-Never allow yourself to become distracted by your cell phone, head phones etc.
-Always know your location in case you need to call for help.

Any suspicious persons or activity should be reported to 911 immediately.
