An elderly woman died after being hit by a bus early Thursday morning, Aug. 29 as she crossed a street in East New York.

Police say the MTA bus was making a left turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue around 6:45 a.m.

Lyubov Angert, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"I heard a boom first and then I immediately went to the window," said a witness. "When I got to the window, I saw the bus driver had pulled off, stopped the bus like this. She got out of  the bus, and about two seconds after she looked, she just went nuts on the sidewalk. She was crying inconsolably. No one could stop her."

The bus was empty at the time.
